In my experience, I have found that if a young person or any member doesn't have a responsibility at church they will soon drop out.
When people feel their presence is needed and other people are depending on them for the collective success of the community then they show up consistently.
I find the same principle applies to our Squad families.
What are some different ways we could help the Gospel Soldiers in our Squads to feel needed? Essential? Involved?
- What are different roles that are simple which we can give people so they feel not just welcomed or invited but actually needed and involved in the Squad Family?
- How can we create an atmosphere of quickly making people feel they are an ESSENTIAL part of our Squad Family immediately after or even before they attend a squad for their first time?
- Who can help us to identify & Develop corporals in the Squad besides the Leader and Assistant? How can we turn Corporals into Leaders?
- Identify 12 different roles people can have so there is something for each person to do in the squad. (this will teach the Team Leaders, Corporals, and Assistants how to discern the talents of others.)
- [ ] Identify a Squad Enumerator. Find someone who's role can be designated to make a list of everyone who attends each week and submit them to the Squad Leader to fill out the report form.
- [ ] Identify your Squad Prayer Warriors. Who in your squad has a strong burden for prayer and loves to hear testimonies of God's answers to prayer?
- Find separate designated person(s) who will be able to follow up with the posted prayer requests in between Squad meetings to let the person know they're being prayed for and ask for a update on how God is answering their prayers.
- If there is a testimony of answered prayers. This person should ask the one who requested prayer last week to come on during prayer and testimony time to share their testimony ANSWERED PRAYER! (Help them feel needed before they attend the group and the likelihood of their attendance will drastically increase.)
- Send 1 min audio messages of prayer recordings during the week.
- [ ] Identify a Squad Prayer Scribe. Who in your squad enjoys writing or doesn't mind taking notes?
- [ ] Find someone different who is responsible for documenting each prayer request that was spoke in during the prayers and testimonies.
- [ ] Then sends the prayer requests for the week to the Discord "#Prayer-Requests" Channel.
- [ ] Identify a Squad Announcer. Who in your squad is punctual and great with keeping track of appointments that can send an announcement in the group reminding everyone when you're about to start?
- Someone to send out reminders to people that the squad is starting. Someone who will gain commitment.
- Perhaps someone to send out the reminder that the squad will be starting in a few hours.
- Remind people of the date and the time. Ask people if they are planning on attending this evening. People often make their schedules 24 hours in advance.
- There are two types of people. People who plan and those who don't. The people who plan often have an idea of what their day looks like about 24 hours in advance.
- People who don't plan are best to send a reminder invitation within an hour before the squad starts.
- This person could also send the Story post on their group to remind people to post it to their story within 24 hours of their squad starting.
- [ ] Identify a Squad Rescuer. Someone who follows up with missing members after each group and lets them know that they were missed and things are not the same without them.
- [ ] Does the time not work well for you? Would another time work better for you?
- [ ] Do you have any prayer requests I can pray for you?
- [ ] Identify a Squad Conversationalist. Who in your squad has the Gift of Gab and has no problem carrying on a conversation? Someone to work together with the Squad Leaders to ask questions about the Bible Reading during the discussion. Someone to spark discussion. Ask opened ended questions.
- [ ] Identify a Squad Talent Scout. Who in your squad has a burden to see others active in Christ's service? A person whose role is to search for corporals that are talented people with leadership potential who could be equipped for service.
- [ ] Identify a Squad Recruiter. Who in your squad is already enlisted in AOY and may be interested in keeping an eye out for people who may want to enlist also?
- [ ] Identify a Squad Technician. Who in your squad is tech-savvy and may be willing to help new people get on discord for their first time, learn the program, makes sure technically-challenged attendants have access to the Bible reading, etc?
- [ ] Identify a Squad Testimony Recorder. Identify someone who can gather testimonies that we could use in the invite funnel, eNewsletter, etc.
