Phase 2 Validator Delegation application window is now open and will close on November 18th. The Validator Delegation council continues to meet weekly to address the Q1 2023 Validator Delegation application, scoring, and award process. The council has finalized validator eligibility criteria, updated the scoring process based on community feedback, and set the application and delegation timelines. Q1 2023 delegations will be announced no later than December 7, 2022. Please note that This resets any existing delegations, therefore validators will be required to re-apply. The council will will continue to address any additional items in order to build a streamlined, recurring process for consistency and to give validators ample opportunity to participate in future phases. After thorough deliberation and collection of feedback, the council will transition to a three-month delegation cycle, beginning in Phase 3 (see below for additional details).
Validator Delegations will be announced no later than December 7th, 2022
Q1 2023 Delegations will continue until March 31st, 2023. Delegations will be awarded on 3 month cycles with the following target dates to align with other community/business quarterly functions:
Q. Our validator has multiple ROWAN wallets for security reasons. Can we include the staked ROWAN from those wallets in order to meet the self-bonding requirement?
A. Yes. Our council will verify your ownership of any additional wallet addresses you include in the application
Q. Why are there 3 minimum stake tiers for validators based on age?
A. The following table was developed by the council in order to recognize the large financial commitments made by validators who have self-bonded their ROWAN for 6 months or more. Given the decline in the price of ROWAN over the past several months, the council increased the minimum staking requirement for newer validators to appropriately match the prior financial commitment from Phase 1.
Sifchain Validator Age | ROWAN Staked |
---|---|
< 6 Months | 280,000 |
6 - 12 Months | 140,000 |
> 12 Months | 70,000 |
This table will be reviewed and adjusted as necessary in subsequent phases
Q. Our validator does not meet the self-bonding requirement with staked ROWAN. Can we include ROWAN in Sifchain Liquidity Pools (LP)?
A. No. The council certainly appreciates validators who contribute to Sifchain’s TVL using LPs, but this falls outside our stated objectives. We deliberated this topic at length, and determined that it creates additional challenges with enforcement and diverging from the larger focus of decentralizing and securing the network.
Q. The top 15 validators are not eligible for a Phase 2 delegation. Does this list include the foundation nodes?
A. Yes, this list of the top 15 validators includes the four Sifchain foundation nodes.
