Teachers that are involved in this project
Kathmandu University High School (KUHS) has a vision to establish a dedicated making space focused on the theme of Robotics. The keen interest and enthusiasm of the students in robotics and coding are the driving forces behind KUHS's pursuit of this theme. To further nurture the students' interests, the school has purchased Arduino kits, enabling students to engage in hands-on tinkering.
Additionally, KUHS plans to make the established making space and its resources accessible to a neighboring schools.
An interesting fact about the KUHS making space is that it is planned to be built in the exact same room where Nepal's first satellite (Danfe Space mission - Danfe) was made by an organization called Antarikshya Pratisthan.

Our first visit to KUHS gave us a good sense of the space available for our project. Unlike other schools we're working with, KUHS has a really big room for us to work in, measuring 26 by 20 by 14.3 feet. During our discussion with Rupak sir, we learned that the space isn't being used efficiently due to high ceilings, so KUHS plans to add a small extra floor to make more room for students. We also noticed that the school already has some storage for our materials, as well as useful tools like a drill machine and internet access. Plus, there are plenty of good tables and chairs for us to use, although we do need to fix some issues with damp walls before we can start working.
One thing that stood out during our visit was how much the students enjoy learning by doing things. We saw this when two students from grades 4 and 5 came to the principal's office with a bug they'd found, asking about what kind of animal it was. Luckily, there was a gardener nearby who caught a snake, which led to an impromptu lesson about snakes and whether they're venomous. It was really cool to see how comfortable the students are talking to their teachers and how eager they are to learn in a hands-on way.

During our second visit to the school, we noticed further seepage problems in two of the walls. The principal shared with us that despite multiple renovations, the issue has resurfaced.
