Using eli

eli is made up of some key components, some of which we have already fully built:

The eli physical device


Our prototype of the eli physical device utilises a 3D printed plastic form that houses an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch carries out all of the on device processing, as it both met the hardware requirements (touch screen, high resolution display, small form) and allowed us to rapidly prototype and test UI changes using Figma Mirror for Apple Watch.

Physical housing

The housing consists of a faceplate (with Apple watch holder) and a translucent back piece to let the 'status' functionality light shine through and glow. There are also small, colourful icon badges on the faceplate that indicate which orientation to rest the device in order to invoke a status:
