We operate in a rapidly advancing space, but there is no blueprint for building what is needed in the dubbing market. The market, for the most part, still relies on voice actors to dub content multilingually, which is a costly and time-consuming process today.
Our Mission Is to ensure our human-in-the-loop (HiTL) team can fully focus on speech generation and dubbing challenges that AI cannot currently handle, so we enable the highest quality and shortest turnaround time to dub content for our clients.

Papercup is building a cross-lingual, speech-to-speech engine, initially focused on dubbing video for content owners and making the worldβs content watchable in any language. To date, videos we've localised have reached over 750m non-English speakers. Our core product consists of a multi-stage pipeline, the output of which is validated and improved by skilled linguists, who make up our human-in-the-loop team. We utilise both off-the-shelf APIs for machine learning, as well as researching and developing our own proprietary speech generation models, focused on achieving human levels of expressivity.
The Product team at Papercup is responsible for product strategy, insights, and execution across all areas of Papercup, spanning from Machine Learning (ML) to Customer (Sales and Account Management) to Localisation and Operations (LocOps). Our cross-functional team is responsible for enabling our operations to scale while also integrating the latest speech generation models and technology into our product.
We work in an unsolved problem space on complex multi-modal problems, informed by our customers and end viewers needs.
The world of AI is ever-evolving, and so are the problems we face. We work with embedded data that helps us make decisions; we trust in trying, making mistakes, being humble, and learning quickly across any problem we are solving.
