Project Description:
This project aimed at redesigning the navigation and organizing content for prospective students on the University of Waterloo website.
Our primary objective was to hone our skills in information architecture and content organization. Moreover, we aimed to improve our expertise in identifying and addressing user challenges through both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
Why University Website : Our decision to focus on a university website stemmed from our desire to leverage a familiar platform for enhancing our research acumen, accumulating user feedback, and conducting usability tests. Despite attending different institutions in the past, both of us had experience with university websites, which enriched our perspective. Why Waterloo’s Website : Among our options, the University of Waterloo stood out, not only because of our ability to obtain insights from its current and prospective students but also due to its global prominence, attracting over 1 million visitors each month.
My Role:
User Research: Undertook both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
Information Architecture: Optimized website navigation by organizing content, refining labels, and creating sitemap diagrams to improve its hierarchical structure.
Usability Testing: Validated and refined the usability through user tests during both mid-fidelity and high-fidelity phases.
High-Fidelity: Finalized the design's appearance, incorporating feedback from the recent usability tests.
Documentation and Final Presentation: Assembled presentation materials and jointly presented the final designs and prototypes alongside my UX teammate.
Research Methods**:**
Existing systems

Qualitative research (in-person interviews) : 10 interviews
