What

This project showcases our Capital Pools feature, which allows users to create customized baskets by combining funds from multiple assets.

Why are we doing it?

We serve a user base of UHNIs (Ultra High Net-worth Individuals). Their portfolios exceed ₹1000 crore and are distributed across multiple asset classes, including Equity, MF, AIF, PMS, and Direct Equity. Currently Altiore operates with three standard categories: Business, Financial, and Real Estate. The business team assigns these categories.

We wanted to create a feature for the users which lets them create personalised categories, in which they have a freedom to add any instrument from their current holding from any asset class like Equity, Fixed Income, Liquid, Alternates etc. and track the performance separately.

Problem Statement?

Design a feature that helps UHNIs create customised pools of capitals as per their freedom and track performance separately.

The Ideation mode

The first meeting

We gathered in a large room with our CPO to understand the intricacies of capital pools and how clients think about distributing funds across multiple asset categories into one customisable pool.

Things that we factored initially

  1. Creation of Pools from multiple assets and assets’ subclasses: We shared some thoughts on how can we achieve it as if it’s a cart like system, where users get to name the pool, and select instruments to add from the holdings.
  2. Since by default Altiore runs on 3 standard categories; Business, Financial and Real Estate; how do we handle this.
  3. Track performance of the the created pools on dashboard

Understand the use case

After the brief given by the business, our design team and PM sat to brainstorm solutions. We created an information architecture diagram showing the user journey for pool creation in the profile section so the team can be sure to further go in this direction, then presented it to our CPO.
