Caprese Salad Recipe
This recipe is a classic Italian salad that is simple to make and delicious to eat. It only requires a few fresh ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 large tomatoes (beefsteak or heirloom preferred)
- 8 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese (the large ball)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves (roll up and chiffonade)
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Slice the tomatoes into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place them on a serving plate.
- Slice the mozzarella cheese into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place them on top of the tomatoes.
- Take the fresh basil leaves, and place them on top of the mozzarella cheese.
- Drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the salad, to taste.
- Serve immediately.
