Maibola is a waste management mobile app that helps people recycle their waste items in the form of plastic bottles. In exchange for collecting the plastic bottles, it gives customers rewards in form of cash, gift-cards and vouchers.
A waste management platform for everyone, it is designed to be simple, easy to use and to be engaging, such that the customers would use it regularly and it would be a part of their activities.

Waste management is one of Nigeria's greatest challenges. These wastes are in form of polymers and plastics which research has shown that they are difficult to manage. It is a common practice to see a large number of waste plastic products not collected in waste bins for further processing, recovery and standard disposal via recycling centres, incinerators or landfills, rather, they are carelessly scattered or discarded into regions that are inaccessible for waste collection and hence terminating the possibility of recovery/recycling.
By creating a simple, friendly, easy-to-use mobile application, we collect plastic waste from users and in exchange reward them with cash, vouchers and shopping codes. to make the process more engaging, I also created features to attract users, a monthly challenge, a leaderboard, an option to dropoff waste, a blog and an in house community to foster a mindset of keeping the community waste free.
