This wiki offers material related to the social history of knowledge, the use of Wikis and similar knowledge-geared digital technologies. It was created to support the teaching of CCS 395, Section 01, Topics in Digital Technology and Culture, a seminar offered at Stony Brook University in Spring 2022.
A Wiki is a digital tool for the production, the organization and the sharing of knowledge, equipped with a minimally-defined hierarchical structure which allows its internal rules and the overall design to evolve quickly in order to adapt to the needs of intellectual research, team collaboration, problem solving, and expanding usership.
The creator and administrator of this wiki is the instructor of the class, Dr. Andrea Fedi.
The cover of this page is an illustration showing the main components of the “aeolipile” invented by Giovanni Branca (1629), one of the first steam machines of the modern era.
