Glossary

Non-native tokens: ****Relative to the Solana ecosystem, a native asset is a SPL token. Examples would include; SOL, JUP, BONK, WIF. A non-native asset would be a non-SPL token created on a different chain, such as BTC, ETH, ARB, DOGE.

What is Clone Protocol? Clone Protocol is a new Solana decentralized-exchange (DEX) designed specifically for creating liquidity & utility for non-native tokens to the Solana ecosystem.

Originally, Clone’s inception in 2021 came from the intention of democratizing investment by improving upon the synthetic asset model and landscape at the time. In this DeFi time frame, Synthetic Assets (Synths) were extremely popular. With key issues identified in the synth model at the time, Clone set out to build and improve Synthetic Exchanges.

During testing for this new product, Clone found their optimal advantage created wasn’t improving synthetics, but in bridging liquidity across chains. By pivoting from synthetics building, to the newly coined “Cloned Assets” Clone aims to be the first scalable infrastructure for bringing non-native tokens to Solana, with plans utilizing their technology and liquidity systems to be used to bridge the multi-chain gap between all ecosystems, ensuring you can trade any token on any ecosystem regardless to which one you prefer to trade on.

Before diving further into Clone Protocol and Cloned Assets, it is essential to have a basic understanding of both Synthetic and Bridged assets.
