Usability testing
- All users were able to complete the task prompts successfully
The usability testing points and feedback were compiled in the table below.
User interview points
Quick findings
Positive/Wins
- All participants guessed correctly what the button icon for the insights screen meant.
- Most participants liked being able to change the start period date and being able to see it on the main screen.
Navigation problems (High to low impact)
- The majority of users got confused when seeing the budgets already predefined for their categories.
- A setup process on the screen might be necessary
- Having the insights button visible when the card was select on Wallet can lead to confusion. One of the users thought the insights were related to only that specific card.
- When expanding a spending category, one user wasn't aware of the period start date anymore. It would also be useful to put a label on top of the spending category type.
Feature suggestion (High to low recurrence)
- The majority of users would like to add more categories or edit the existing ones. At least half of them would like to tuck categories underneath others or see them grouped together.
- It might be necessary to add more categories to cover the majority of users needs. However, adding or editing categories names can lead to automatic categorisation issues.
- The majority of participants tried to change the category name by clicking on the three dots (when the notification is expanded). However, this is a native iOs shortcut to manage notifications. This doesn't seem to be a critical issue and we assume users would just click away if this was available on the prototype.
- Half of the users mentioned they use specific cards for specific types of spending. Having different cards from the same bank may lead to confusion.
- Having the option to rename or label cards might be useful.
