๐ฏ What are P2E Gaming Guilds?
- Organization that buys game assets (yield-earning NFTs) and loans them to players through scholarships
- Platform for gamers to organize and socialize
- Often player-owned Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), representing gamers to partner game developers
๐น Guild Tokenomics
- Guilds can issue tokens, representing ownership, membership (access to Guild resources), and governance
- YGG reserves 45% of tokens for community members regardless of buying power
- BAYZโs token is in development, TBA
๐ฎ Choosing Games to Invest In
- Guilds invest in games through buying (1) in-game NFT assets, and (2) governance tokens
- Longer investment horizon than a typical VC, typically early i.e. pre-seed onwards. Guilds represent players to guide the development of the game.
- Recognize that not all games will succeed. Guilds are long-term partners, aiming to help games succeed through constructive feedback from member gamers
- YGG has invested in >30 games across genres and gameplay modalities, many yet to launch. Additional investment possible as new features are launched.
- BAYZ is selective, focusing on games with a lower barrier to entry, e.g. MetaSoccer, a football manager game.
๐ Staying Competitive as a Guild
- Need to differentiate themselves to appeal to game developers and gamers
- E.g. YGG has scale, and BAYZ focuses on (1) Brazil and (2) quality content.
