When conducting research, there is only so much third-hand information you can gather from people and websites on the issues of MRI scans and even at that there is little information to go on. This was one of the many reasons why I decided to create a survey for people who have had MRI scans to share their personal experiences of the scan. In this way, I am receiving first-hand accounts from patients and the problems they faced (if any) during the scan. As a regular user of MRI scans, I was mindful not to be biased on the subject, so hearing other people’s experiences was interesting and relatable at times.

Experience of MRI's

I created a survey on Google forms, which in my opinion is the best service for creating questionnaires and it is free. I was happy with the layout of it and questions asked, however I did and still do have difficulty asking people to fill out the form because most people haven’t had an MRI scan that I know of. I did my very best to try and gather as much responses as I could, by sharing the form on Slack, Yammer (the software colleagues use in Sainsbury’s to communicate), facebook group chats and online forums like Reddit. I was lucky to gather 18 respondents as of now, some of them being close friends and one or two family members, but the rest was from people on these forums. Although I’m thankful to receive this amount of responses, I still wish I could gather more. I am currently waiting permission from the admin of the MS Society website, to post a blog on their website to ask people with MS if they could take the time to complete the form. So far I have heard no response, but the advantage being that my form is always open for people to fill in.
