In case we haven’t met, I’m Tom Mills, the author of Procure Bites, and recognised as the Procurement Protagonist on LinkedIn.
With over 11 years in Procurement roles and a similar period leading Buying and Purchasing functions across major food grocery, sports nutrition, fashion, catering, and financial services brands, I’ve honed a core set of Soft Skills that have set me apart and propelled my career forward.
A decade ago, I was tasked with transforming a Procurement team that was merely skirting around the edges of the organisation. They were:
I came to realise that my success in driving Procurement transformation relied less on ‘what I knew’ and more on ‘how I communicated that knowledge effectively’. This transformation not only advanced my professional standing but bolstered my personal confidence.
Today, I feel equipped to tackle any Procurement role with confidence, even if I don’t perfectly match the job criteria.
Why? Because I’ve cultivated the soft skills – the self-awareness and emotional intelligence – needed to foster top-tier engagement and deliver game changing Procurement outcomes across any organisation.
<aside> 🙂 *“I will get the procurement aspects out of the way first. Tom clearly knows his subject inside out and this brings direct and tangible benefits to businesses.
He came into an organisation that needed guidance around procurement and immediately began to deliver by working out what worked and pulling, pushing, nudging, cajoling, influencing to make improvements. And he did all this in a constructive helpful way. Both within and outside the procurement discipline, Tom demonstrates soft skills a-plenty.
I fondly remember him chairing a ‘herding cats’ style meeting, remotely, never losing his temper, keeping things on track, untwisting gnarly points and taking us to a good conclusion. No mean feat! A strong communicator and influencer, Tom brings positivity, pragmatism and good sense to all interactions whether procurement-related or not”*

The program starts on 9th May and runs for a total of 10 weeks. Each week, I’ll teach a new live workshop and share suggested action items via email. If you miss a live workshop, the recording will be posted within 1 business day.
Here's the schedule of what we’ll cover. I may tweak elements of this in the founders round subject to student feedback as I look to hone the course to suit your needs…another advantage of joining my pilot program!
