Frankly speaking I have to say that I was fascinated by the idea of working abroad for a long time. I considered doing an internship in Canada or Alaska or doing work and travel in Australia. However, when I was doing civil service I met volunteers doing ESC and due to that encounter I came to the idea of doing volunteer work like them.
I told myself that I will choose a project that really fits my interests and that I will not just apply for any project that is located in my dream country. At first it seemed that I will go to Belgium to a project related to caring for disabled people, but then I found this awesome project at Funkibator embedded into the house of SIP in Sweden. The description seemed to fit me perfectly, so I applied and after the interview I knew that I would go to Sweden for one year. My tasks there were to create events and activities for people with disabilities and migration background.
There are many reasons why I wanted to go abroad after the civil service. I wanted to...
