While researching for possible names to call my brand, I decided to make a quick mind map to brainstorm all the ideas I had in my head. The advice I was given was to look at calm and reassuring words that would be used to reflect my design idea. As my project is VR based and designed to comfort the user before their MRI scan, I want the user to feel relaxed by the look and feel of my brand before accessing it. As a result, I will need a name that is tranquil, somewhat medical to a certain degree, as it is for patients and reflective of my idea.

From this, I conducted some research on words that are linked to ‘calm’, ‘peaceful’ and ‘reassuring’, as well as relaxing location names, like ‘paradise’ and ‘oasis’ etc. There was a large list of words in our vocabulary I could have used, but I was able to condense it down to the words presented within the mindmap, as some words where not suitable and irrelevant to the topic. Nevertheless, it was a helpful exercise being able to list all the appropriate words together and seeing them on the same page for future reference. I was in a dilemma deciding whether to create this mindmap on paper or on Miro, but in the end I decided to sketch it on paper, as I find personally, that it’s quicker brainstorming ideas this way as I have physically wrote it out and have more control on how it looks.
