Hint allows users read daily local and international news on the go based on their selected feeds from the comfort of their devices.
This project started with the sole aim to design a mobile app that allows users read news from both local and international newspaper from one source hence giving users access to news updates on the go.
I started out by conducting a user research to probe if users really need an app that allows them read news update, after which i created user personas based on feedbacks, worked on the features and created the UI design.
Today, you can read newspaper headlines from your phone just with a few clicks. Thanks to technology.
However, I discovered that most Nigerian and International News outlets have their websites, and online news platforms, but there isn't exactly an application that curates all these news sources in one place. I can imagine the hassle users (News lovers and enthusiasts) have to go through to stay informed and abreast of the happenings around them. This informed the need for an application that solves this problem.
The goal of this project is to allow users comfortably read news and watch videos of news update from local and international newspaper from one source with the assurance of giving seamless and delightful experience while using the app.
Quantitative (surveys) and qualitative (interviews) research was used to identify users challenges accessing news update from local and and international newspaper and suggest viable solutions to help meet their needs by creating a platform through design thinking.
After screening users through questionnaire, 10 users were recruited for the interviews. From the research, it was gathered that users have difficulties validating information they read from unverified sources. This was the most rampart complaints from users.
They also highlighted that they prefer to read from the comfort of their devices and not reading news from a newspaper sheet.
Not having an app where they can get all the news update hence being able to easily switch between local and international newspaper without leaving the app.
