5 Point Heuristic Analysis

I wrote this article after slogging through a super lengthy 10-step Heuristic analysis. I felt like they were just too much, so I created an analysis with half the steps.

After I wrote the article, I reached out to the guys at uxdesign.cc about publishing it on Medium.

They agreed, and since then it has received around 283 claps, and 5.5k views, and I regularly get requests for access to the template! It didn't go viral or anything, but it was my first published article, so that's cool.

How might I know where I am?

• Is there an active navigation element and label visible?
• If the navigation model follows an unconventional design pattern, does it still provide an explicit enough conceptual model for a representative user to get a sense of where they are in relation to other areas of the application?
