Overview
As you saw on the previous page, each day of the week has a different topic with different learning goals. We have tried to make every day different and as interactive as possible. Below is a short summary of the tasks and deliverables for each day. They should each only take 10-30 minutes, depending on the day and age of the student.
Monday: Food System Heroes
- Reading about the steps food takes to get to the consumer and how different workers make those steps possible.
- Creating a short comic about this system.
Tuesday: Environmental Impacts of Food
- Reading a short illustrated story of Calore the Cow and how cattle farming leads to both deforestation and increased emissions, harming the earth.
Wednesday: Industrial Agriculture
- Watching a series of short videos and answer review questions about industrial agriculture and its effects.
Thursday: Sustainable Agriculture
- Playing a detailed game about the challenges of running a sustainable farm.
Friday: El Niño and La Niña
- Filling out a worksheet to examine a meal the student had, its impact on the environment, and how they can make their meal more sustainable.
