Persona(s)

• Mrs. Shaw is a seventh-grade science teacher looking to introduce her students to data visualization and interpretation. She needs a handy and intuitive tool to do this. If she can teach her students about data visualization in a compelling way, she'll meet the standards for STEM in the common core and NGSS standards.

• Logan is a seventh-grader who is keen to learn everything he can about Earth and the environment. He is excited to use technology that offers interactivity and immersion to learn about the environment.

Problem

• Data visualization is a skill that STEM initiatives and NGSS standards would like teachers to focus on, but teachers are already overworked and many aren't savvy when it comes to the latest and greatest digital tools available.

Mission

• To create an app that lets students view and interact with real-world data about the planet Earth. To connect students and teachers with the world where they live.

Tech Stack Architecture

• Earth Dashboard is a web-only app that is built on Postgres Databases and REST API's. The back-end framework is constructed with NodeJS, Node Express, and Knex. The front-end is developed using React, Redux and uses D3 or ChartJS for visualizations.
