- Diakite’s contract of $2,272,252 was partially guaranteed for $1,392,150 when Brooklyn acquired Diakite from the New York Knicks on July 6th. This is why his outgoing salary is calculated using this amount.
- Because his outgoing salary does not reach an amount allowable within the Expanded TPE (the largest of the exceptions) to absorb Wiliiams’ incoming salary, there is no need to guarantee any additional salary.
- As a result, Brooklyn then needs to use an existing TPE to absorb the Williams salary. The smallest TPE they have available to absorb the contract is the TPE created from the Royce O’Neal Trade ($9,500,000), which would then decrease to $3,366,995, and expires on 2/10/25.
- Because Williams was absorbed in a separate TPE, the Nets create a new $1,391,150 TPE from the Diakite trade, which will expire on 7/19/25

- Because both Diakite and Dangubic count as $0 incoming salary,, Memphis generates a $6,133,005 TPE from Williams’ salary, which will expire on 7/19/25, or after the Regular Season should Memphis be over the First Apron.
- Memphis saves $3,859,753 in cap space as a result of the trade.
