I worked as a UX writer alongside the product manager, UI/UX designer, and web developers. I worked on defining the brand’s user persona through user research, defined brand voice and tone, and decided on the copy choices.
“Elewa agoyin ti de o”
This is the frequent chant of an ewa agoyin (mashed beans) seller in Nigeria. In the Yoruba language, the chant means “beans seller have come.” I, just like many Nigerians, grew up hearing this chant as early as 7 am as she hawks her sumptuous meal.
This sound jolts us out of whatever we are doing and makes us dash to the kitchen to get a plate and dash right outside to stop the beans hawker before she walks past our house. She often walks with a bread hawker. We call them a power couple because ewa agoyin is often paired with bread.
Ewa agoyin, akara (beans cake), amala (yaw flour), dundun (fried potato and yam), and puff puff are some of the street and indigenous meals that Nigerians have grown to love over the years.
However, a significant issue arises when individuals desire to enjoy these meals from the convenience of their homes without having to search the area for vendors.
For instance, buying ewa agoyin typically involves waiting outside one's house and hoping for a hawker to pass by. This method is inconvenient and impractical for those genuinely fond of this dish.
So how can we make African meals, recipes, and indigenous delicacies more accessible and convenient for our customers, no matter their location and schedule? By creating an online food delivery model where customers order their meals online and deliver them to their homes or offices. The company emphasises the use of indigenous products and food culture and uses advanced online payment systems to streamline the food ordering process.
Corporate Ewa strives to overcome the limited availability of beloved and healthy street and indigenous meals in Nigeria by creating an innovative platform that enables individuals to order these meals from the comfort of their homes conveniently. The company aims to enhance the accessibility of its ordering platform to accommodate a broader user base. Furthermore, by revolutionising the on-demand direct-to-consumer meal market, Corporate Ewa is introducing unique options that transform the way individuals and corporate customers access convenient and nutritious street food.
My goal was to make the ordering platform accessible to users, no matter their location and schedule.
