What works well:
Unknowns / what needs work:
1Hive is a crypto-native, decentralized community with shared expenses needed to support its core infrastructure. These have been a pain point for the community since payments are too small to be worth going through the governance process of a funding proposal from the community Honey treasury, but since they often span multiple working groups they are difficult to handle through a centralized swarm. The status quo was that many of these payments were made by contributors without reimbursement.
The Expense Reimbursement Pool is a low friction funding source for expense compensation that preserves decentralization. Voting is restricted to addresses in the Citizen’s Registry, allowing for open governance by a relatively small group of high context contributors that can seamlessly evolve over time.
The Expense Reimbursement Pool is a Funding Pool on Gardens that leverages modular conviction voting for low friction governance with a small, open, high context group of voters. Conviction voting is time-weighted, meaning proposals for reimbursement need sustained support over time to pass.
The pool uses a relatively low setting for Minimum Conviction that allows proposals to pass with just 1 or 2 contributors supporting.
Conviction Growth is set to 1 week, meaning proposals typically won’t pass within a week, giving the community this amount of time to dispute abusive proposals.
The pool’s voting weight system is set to Quadratic (voting weight = square root of tokens staked in the community), reducing the effect of governance only by whales.
