What is Piips?

Piips (pronounced peeps) is a hyperlocal social network. It lets you post short messages to people nearby — not globally, not on a map, but within walking distance. Posts are sorted by proximity and time, so what you see is what’s happening here and now.

You don’t follow people. You follow channels like p/pub/parties, p/pub/goths, or p/pro/bar, which help you connect with the communities and venues around you.

How It Works

  1. See / Share what’s up: Have a thought, joke, or moment? Post it. Join the ambient conversation.
  2. Events: Throwing a party, hosting a show, or launching a pop-up? Post it to reach people close enough to come.
  3. Advice: Need help finding something nearby? Ask your local Piips.
  4. Subcultures: Join or create niche channels like p/pub/skate, p/pub/foodies, p/pub/dnd, or p/pub/swifties.
  5. Hangouts: Need a plus one? Looking for a teammate? Find real people in real time.
  6. Memes: Because not everything has to be serious.
  7. Venues: Local businesses can post updates, menus, events, and more in professional channels like p/pro/restaurant.

Why It’s Different

Piips is short-form like X, community-driven like Reddit, and proximity-based like nothing else. It’s built to get you off your phone and into the world.
