<aside> ⚡ SkillMarket is an application that allows users to swap skills on a one-to-one, voluntarily and non-profit basis. The app facilitates matches between people based on their desired and existing skill sets. After they match up, we provide a system that helps them to maintain the learning experience, with regular check-ins, and progress trackers.

Background Research
<aside> 💡 *1. Real-World Need? There are several reddit posts, asking “Is there a subreddit for skill swaps?”, and many comments agree the usefulness of having a skill swaps, proving there is a need for such learning experiences.
People always make twitter posts for skill swaps. For example, this is a writing skill swap post in this link.
Also, there is many language exchange platforms existed already, like HelloTalk. However, there is not any for wider range of skills, like cooking, playing piano or soft skills for works. Nor, there is a platform or system make this skill exchange possible or sustainable.
Competitors Skillshare: an online learning community based in the United States that provides educational videos. Skillswap: a platform has very similar idea with ours but very under-developed and questionable interface designs.
What we solve and what makes us standout We notice that this skill exchange process is very hard to maintain. People might only meet up once or lack of formal maintenance of the platform, which are the reasons many skill-share subreddit died out.
SkillMarket formalize the skills being provided in an organized database. 2.SkillMarket help people to make the skill sharing long-term, by providing calendar availability, regular check-in features, and Avatar point reward system.*
