Comparative Table

Conclusion

After analyzing the competitors, we roughly understand the market situation, and it's clear which direction to move forward.

There are many applications on the market, but just a few are good. From my analysis, only one out of five apps seems worthwhile. Two are somewhat usable, with tolerable issues.

I've selected the most important and commonly encountered functions in applications that I'll be developing:

Storygraph

The best application, my benchmark. I'll be relying on it.

It has a few functions, only the essentials. However, everything is well-executed and works flawlessly - both in terms of UX and technology. It's the only app that implements AI, and it does so successfully with AI summaries and personalized recommendations.

Goodreads

Market leader from Amazon, with around 14 million downloads. Bulky UX, outdated UI, sometimes not intuitive and odd decisions. It integrates with Kindle, which presumably compensates all the negatives.

Bookmory

An app that includes everything imaginable but not executed very well. However, I understand why people might choose it. Poor UI, non intuitive solutions.
